CHIMP is a multidisciplinary contemporary artist from New Zealand, now based in Melbourne. His creative journey began with skateboard deck design, evolving into graffiti and large-scale murals influenced by hip-hop culture. With an industrial design degree and over a decade of experience, his work blends bold color contrasts, geometric structures, and organic forms, transforming urban environments into dynamic, thought-provoking spaces.

Exploring themes of human connection, identity, and survival, CHIMP abstracts the world around him—imagining future evolutions, reshaping nature, and distorting architecture through form and color. His work is heavily inspired by adrenaline-fueled experiences like free-diving, downhill skateboarding, riding motorbikes, and trekking, as well as music, car design, and pioneering graffiti and fine artists.

Spray paint is his primary medium, chosen for its dual destructive and reparatory qualities, allowing for fluid mark-making and precise realism. His mural practice is deeply connected to his studio work, with each influencing the other. Whether painting a massive public wall or crafting a detailed studio piece, CHIMP pushes creative boundaries, seeing the world as a layered abstraction waiting to be reimagined.

Dedicated to expanding public art’s cultural value, CHIMP believes in making art accessible outside of traditional galleries, fostering new creative opportunities,

and inspiring the next generation of artists.
